No Plants available for Sale in 2010. Sorry. Rosemary - Papa's favorite herb! That's why we have so many varieties! Tall ones, short ones, skinny ones, fat ones! Blue-flowered, white-flowered and pink-flowered! For pots, windowboxes and topiaries. For sauces, lamb roasts, shish kebobs and herbs de provence! Is this a great herb or what? Most are not reliably hardy north of Zone 7, although we occasionally have one overwinter here in Zone 5, if we have mulched well and Mother Nature is kind to us. Easy to overwinter in a pot on a sunny windowsill.

30003. | Unpruned Rosemary for Topiaries | $6.95 |
|
Rosemarys for topes. These rosemarys are over a year old and have never been pruned - precisely the plant you need if you want to make your own rosemary standard topiary. These are about 12" tall in 2 1/2" pots. These are not for beginners, and if you haven't grown rosemary indoors this would be a risky way to start. I will guarantee them to arrive in good shape and as advertised, but I will not guarantee your success in creating a topiary. It is a two-year process that requires attention to detail and patience, and I will not warranty these plants agains underwatering, overwatering or general neglect. If you are not willing to devote at least a little time to this project every other week or so, please do not order it. For additional information about creating rosemary standards (topiaries) please check out my garden blog for September 19, 2008.
During the colder months, shipping is on a "weather-permitting" basis. Call or email if you have questions.

9298. | Hill Hardy Rosemary | $4.75 |
|
Tender perennial. The real name of this plant is Madelene Hill Rosemary although many in the trade call in Hill Hardy or Hardyhill or similar names. With fragrant, needlelike foliage, it requires a sunny garden spot and regular watering to keep it in top form. Foliage can be harvested at any time, but is usually at its best just before the plant blooms. Blue flowers. This one is reputed to be winter hardy, but our own experience is that it survives - sometimes - well mulched to Zone 7. I've gotten it to survive outside in SE Nebraska, but only in a very special sheltered spot in a very mild winter. I have not been able to replicate that feat with any rosemary.
Zones: 8-10, can be overwintered indoors in colder climes. Flowers: blue . Growth Habit: Upright. Other: dark green foliage. Uses: culinary, ornamental and cosmetic.

Madelene Hill is a Texas plantswoman who has done much work on rosemarys and other plants. She introduced the Rosemary "Arp", that is at least marginally hardier than most other rosemarys.
I think this is identical to 'Hill Hardy' Rosemary, although I bought them labelled as different plants. Can anyone out there confirm my suspicions?
