9379 Angelica Angelica archangelica Angelica Angelica is probably the most impressive plant you can grow in an herb garden. These spectacular plants will grow 6 feet tall, with arching branches of bright green, divided leaves, purplish stems and unusual purple flowers. Although all parts of the plant are edible most people grow Angelica to harvest its seeds for pastry dishes. Angelica usually has a three year life cycle, but it can be kept as a perennial by pinching off the flowers before seeds begin to form. We are one of a very few sources in America which offers this plant. Can be planted outdoors in the Autumn. P 6ft H,C,O Beautiful Chinese herb with large, bright green leaves, hollow stems, and white umbeliferrous flowers. In Chinese medicine, is considered to have "warming" properties, and used for improving circulation, digestion, menstruation, and other conditions relating to blood flow.

9839 Anise Hyssop Agastache foeniculum Anise Hyssop Large, hardy, perennial plant sometimes incorrectly called Licorice Mint. Both flowers and leaves are anise-scented and are very useful in teas. The purple/lavender flowers last for several weeks and thier abundant nectar atttracts hummingbirds and butterflies. Plant at the back of a border and prune back to 6" in the Fall. 9381 Cardamon Ginger Amomum cardamomum Cardamon Ginger Native to the tropical rain forests of India, Cardamon Ginger is often mistakenly sold as ginger, but the roots of this species are distinctly cardamom-scented. Under the right conditions it can grow 3 to 5 feet tall, but generally will stay small in more temperate climates; it thrives in partial shade, but will not like full Texas sun. This variety is prized for its grated roots that are used in Arab and Indian cuisine. Because it's a tropical plant, it's best to keep it potted and move it indoors when cold weather threatens.

Many people who are allergic to garlic can tolerate garlic chives. It's an easy plant to grow and in late summer it produces umbels of white blossoms, which dry very well and are attractive in dried arrangements and wreaths. Pungent tasting root is high in several vitamins and minerals, and has antibiortic qualities that are useful for preserving food and protecting the intestinal tract. Overwinters in Zones 8-10; should be potted and brought indoors in colder climates.A common ingredient in Thai cuisine, Lemon Grass produces tall clumps (often growing as tall as 5 feet) of lemon flavored foliage. All parts of the plant are useable, but the most flavorful part of the plant is the lower few inches of each leaf blade. This is a tender perennial that grows best in tropical parts of the United States. In other climates, grow it in large tubs or planters and move it indoors for the winter.

9367 Mexican Tarragon Tagetes lucida Tarragon, Mexican Also known as Texas Tarragon, Mexican Marigold and Sweet Marigold. This useful plant is a member of the marigold genus and displays golden marigold-like flowers, but it tastes like True French Tarragon. In southern climates where it is difficult to grow French Tarragon, this is a perfectly satisfactory substitute. It is also useful to greenhouse growers in northern climates, as it does not "go dormant" in winter like French Tarragon. It is winter hardy through at least Zone 8, probably Zone 7; treat as a tender perennial north of Zone 7. Full sun. Drought tolerant.
