Santolina Plant Descriptions

9526 Green Santolina Santolina cv Santolina, Green Usually perennial through Zone 4. This is the hardiest and easiest to grow of all the Santolinas. Bright green lacy foliage with tall stalks of bright yellow button flowers starting in July. A traditional (and effective) insect repellant. Along with Common Germander, probably the best plants for low hedges and knot gardens. We keep the hedge in our teaching garden pruned to a tidy 8 - 10 inches. Can be planted outdoors in the Autumn.

9324 Grey Santolina Santolina cv Santolina, Grey Tender perennial. Usually overwinters in Zones 6-10; should be potted and brought indoors in colder climates.Grey santolina belongs in every herb garden, especially if you're trying to create a silver or grey theme. The plant's fuzzy, finely cut, silver leaves are especially attractive in the evening when they almost seem to glow. Grey santolina requires a sunny garden spot and excellent drainage. It has yellow flowers during the summer. Often called "Lavender Cotton." Can be planted outdoors in the Autumn in Zones 6-10.

9516 Rosemary-leaved Santolina Santolina cv Santolina, Rosemary-leaved Tender perennial. Overwinters in Zones 6-10; should be potted and brought indoors in colder climates.The fragrant, needlelike foliage of Rosemary-leaved Santolina can be sheared easily into a variety of forms. It is the most attractive small standard in our collection of several dozen potted topiaries. It's a sun and heat loving plant that grows well in pots or garden beds. In the north, bring pot grown plants indoors during the winter. Can be planted outdoors in the Autumn in Zones 6-10.
